Lorain International
The Lorain International collection consists of photographs, newspaper articles, programs, posters, and regulations created by or for the Lorain International Association and Festival. The collection also contains items from the festivals in the years leading up to the creation of the Association. The International Association was created in 1967 in Lorain, Ohio to promote and build Lorain as the International City. This is done by holding festivals, parades, pageants and other community activities. Because of the large industries that fueled Lorain like iron, shipping, and automotive, the city is made of many immigrant communities. One goal of the Association is to bring all the groups together to share their cultures and create a sense of unity through diversity. The physical collection is at Lorain Public Library Main Branch. Some items were donated to the Library by the International Association. Much of the collection was created by photos taken by library staff and articles published in the Lorain Journal.
