The awning below the H.P. Nielsen sign reads as follows: "Jewelery, H.P. Nielsen, Queens Ware." The phrase "U.S. Customs" are lettered on the left of the business vestibule, while "H.P. Nielsen Fine China (last word not readable) is lettered in script on the right of the vestibule.
The man standing in the vestibule is likely Hans Peder Nielsen, the founder and owner of the jewelry store
