Carl Nielsen, Sr. waits on two female customers from behind the counter of his jewelry store, Nielsen Jewelers in Lorain, Ohio. Founded in 1877 by Carl Peder Nielsen, Nielsen Jewelers is the oldest business in the city.
A portrait of Hans Peder Nielsen, founder of the jewelry store, can be seen hanging above the front door of the business. Other paintings are hung on both walls above the glass display cases.
The date of the photos is likely the late 1950s or early 1960s, given the women customers' dress styles.
The photographer is not known.
